How we talk about God with kids.

Every family has a different understanding of and conversation around the “big questions” that our little kids love to ask! When your child is in the phase where they ask “why” about everything, what do you tell them?

What will we tell them? We say…

  • Every family believes different things and we want to respect what your family believes.

  • Our family is Christian and we pray before meals and before bedtime in our home.

All are welcome and encouraged to share with us what their family’s beliefs are so that we can be aware of and sensitive to that for your children. We are excited to partner with you regarding your child’s curiosity regardless of where that exploration leads.

What to expect: Your child might be asked to fold their hands before lunchtime while we say a short prayer that goes something like this:

Our Heavenly Father Jehovah, we thank you for the food that you provided us and the hands that prepared it. Provide for those who do not have enough to eat. Forgive us for our shortcomings and mistakes. And we ask all this and are grateful. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

We respect your decision as a parent regarding whether or not you would like your child to fold their hands and close their eyes when we do this at lunchtime.

Thank you for your interest in this important conversation and please know that we are happy to talk further with you about how spirituality affects the experience of childcare at Morning Dew Family Childcare.
